Professor Tunde Ope-Davies (Opeibi) earned his academic degrees (Bachelor, Master and Doctorate) from the University of Lagos, Lagos. He has been Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Lagos State. Prof Ope-Davies has also earned visiting positions at the University of Westminster, London, University of Technology, Chemnitz, Germany and University of Edinburgh, Scotland, United Kingdom. He is the founder and director of the Centre for Digital Humanities University of Lagos.
Professor Ope-Davies has won a number of prestigious and competitive academic honours. These include the Commonwealth Professional Fellowship as visiting scholar at the Centre for Democracy, University of Westminster, London; the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation’s Georg Forster Fellowship for Experienced Researchers, at Chemnitz University of Technology, Germany; DAAD Scholarship for University of Leipzig’s summer programme in Digital Humanities, and the Visiting Research Fellowship of the Institute for Advanced Studies in the Humanities (IASH-SPSS), University of Edinburgh, United Kingdom.
A widely travelled scholar, he has participated and presented research and professional papers in international conferences and workshops in different parts of the world
As the pioneer professor of Digital Humanities in Nigeria and Sub-Saharan Africa, he is the convener of the Lagos Summer School in Digital Humanities (LSSDH).
His hobbies include sports, travelling, mentoring young people, and listening to music, and life coaching.
